Covetan Themed trail

The Covetan trail is a themed summer trail on the wetlands.
This area, between Covetan and the Lachat plateau, is a made up of peat bogs and, in part, has been classified as a Regional Nature Reserve since 2013.
This environment is sometimes called “Little Lapland” because many of the plant species we find here can also be found in Scandinavia.

Come and enjoy a forest walk in a natural setting.
This itinerary will help you discover the most beautiful landscapes in the area, between the Mont Charvin and the Aravis mountains.

In summer

A breath of fresh air

800m after the beginning of the trail, you will find the first (of many) reading table, about natural springs.
There are wooden planks all along the path, to make walking easier.

If you are hoping to see some animals, you’ll have to be very quiet! They are not far away!
The vegetation is humid and fragile. It is important to stay on the path for safety reasons.
At the end of the trail, come back the same way to return to the car park.

Access

From the town hall of Notre-Dame de Bellecombe, take the departmental road D 218b towards Les Saisies, going through the hamlet of Planay, Plan dernier and then continue for a little less than 3km, before stopping at the car park on the left before the stream of Covetan.

From Crest Voland, take the road towards Les Saisies. At the junction between Les Saisies and Notre Dame de Bellecombe, turn left. Go under the bridge, then the small parking lot will be on your left.
