SID and the power of the titmouse

Overlooking Flumet, where the hiking trail to Lac des Evettes begins, a giant tit, placed in an unexpected context, imbues a water reservoir with its bright yellow. Created by the artist SID (for Swiss, Iberian, Determined), known for his ability to merge the worlds of graffiti, rap and photography, this fresco actually celebrates the resilience of mountains in the face of contemporary challenges. Inspired by a photograph taken from a petition calling for ski resorts to remain open despite COVID-19, SID conveys a clear and powerful message on the concrete wall: even in the icy grip of a pandemic, nature and mountain communities remain combative. Funny and colorful, the fresco echoes the artist’s commitment to the environment and climate issues, illustrating through its subject the spirit of resistance characteristic of the Val d’Arly. By featuring the lively and enduring titmouse, SID invites us to meditate on our relationship with nature and on the strategies to consider to overcome crises.
